St. John's Singers

The St. John’s Singers was established in October 2008. Formerly the adult choir of the parish, the St. John’s Singers provides the music for the Latin Novus Ordo each Sunday (10:30am).

In addition to these responsibilities, the choir sings for the Masses and services of Holy Week and performs a 45-minute choral prelude to the Christmas Midnight Mass. Conducted by music director Jeffrey Alban, this choir sings varied S.A.T.B. repertoire ranging from Renaissance polyphony to twenty-first century music.

The choir currently consists of almost 40 volunteer members from the parish. New singers, ages 14 and older, are always welcome. There are no auditions and no previous singing experience is necessary. Rehearsals are scheduled for every Thursday from 7:30-9:30pm in Fr. Ruehl Hall. 

St. John's Children's Choir

Started in November 2008, the St. John’s Children’s Choir is conducted by Dr. Jeffrey Alban. The children sing a variety of unison and 2-part treble music, including Gregorian Chant Masses, hymns, and anthems. The children sing for selected 8:30am Masses on Sundays and the parish’s First Communion Mass.

In addition to singing, the children learn basic musical elements, music reading skills, and proper vocal technique. New singers, ages 8-13, are always welcome. There are no auditions, and no previous singing experience is necessary. Rehearsals are scheduled for each Thursday from 4:30 — 5:30pm in Fr. Ruehl Hall.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Guides and Assistants

Divinum Auxilium Academy is seeking Guides and Assistants for its Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program. The ideal candidate for the Guide position will be certified as a Level I, II or III catechist and will have 2-3 years experience leading a CGS classroom. Experience is preferred but not required for the Assistant positions. These students are full time at a Catholic Montessori Classical Farm school located in Front Royal, VA. 

Each atria is fully equipped and each classroom will have a full time assistant.  The Lead Catechist will be responsible for guiding the weekly atrium session, communicating with the administration of Divinum Auxilium Academy, as well as parents, and coordinating with the parish catechesis office as necessary.
